A Day In The Life Of Actor Kim Ji Soo, 3 Years After His Controversy

Actor Kim Ji Soo was one of K-Drama’s brightest rising stars until a controversy upended his career in 2021. Now, Ji Soo is starting fresh in the Philippines.

In 2021, Kim Ji Soo was accused of school violence, bullying, sexual harassment, and assault. His agency at the time terminated his contract, and he was replaced in the K-Drama Where The River Moon Rises. Ji Soo enlisted in the military then, in 2023, provided an update on the allegations. He stated that the original accuser has forgiven him.

On August 28, Sparkle GMA Artist Center, a talent agency based in the Philippines, announced that it had signed Ji Soo. The announcement was met with anger from netizens, who condemned Sparkle GMA for its decision and Ji Soo for returning to the spotlight in a different country.

Ji Soo appeared in the series Black Rider on July 3, then in the film Mujigae, released October 9, followed by the series Abot-Kamay na Pangarap. Abot-Kamay na Pangarap premiered in 2022 and aired its final episode on October 19, 2024. Ji Soo has not yet announced his next project, but fans have been showing their support for his new career path.

In addition to being active on Instagram, Ji Soo keeps fans up to date on YouTube and TikTok. One of these videos, posted on October 5, takes fans behind the scenes of the star’s daily life in the Philippines.

Ji Soo starts his day by going to an ESL (English as a Second Language) class.

After lunch, it’s time to study another language: Tagalog. Given that Ji Soo now acting outside of Korea, speaking both languages might potentially open up acting opportunities for him abroad.

Ji Soo is also taking vocal lessons. Is he planning to debut as a singer in the future? Record soundtracks for Filipino series? Only time will tell.

After dinner, Ji Soo returns home to complete his homework and practice speaking English. This involves more than just speaking the language fluently. His “English mimicking” includes practicing gestures and cadence.
