The Thoughtful Reason Actor Lee Dong Wook Refuses To Talk About His Ex-Girlfriends Publicly
Despite his long career, actor Lee Dong Wook has only confirmed one public relationship. He dated idol-turned-actor Suzy for less than a year. That doesn’t mean the handsome actor has been single the whole time, even though actor Kim Bum revealed he’s far too busy to date at all.
The actor in his early forties explained why he rarely talks about his love life publicly—especially his ex-girlfriends.
During the press conference for Single in Seoul, the actor was asked if he would ever write a novel about his first love, like his character in the film. Lee Dong Wook immediately rejected the idea, “No, no way. It would simply be too embarrassing.” There was a deeper reason why.
As a public figure and someone considerate of others, Lee Dong Wook didn’t think it was respectful to talk about his ex-girlfriends without receiving their permission.
Plus, I believe it would be very inconsiderate of my ex-girlfriend if I published a book about her without her consent. The readers may not know who I was referring to, but my ex-girlfriend would know. For that same reason, I try to avoid going into too many details about my past love during interviews.

Lee Dong Wook has lived by those words for years. When the cast of SBS‘s reality show Roommate tried to dig for information about his ex-girlfriends, he stopped his sister from revealing any information about their identities.
Lee Dong Wook is a gentleman who respects his privacy and that of the people he cares about. He even revealed that his dating life wasn’t as eventful as his on-screen romances. The actor admitted, “It’s not like my love life is that interesting either.”
