Aespa Discusses The Hardest Part About Filming Their “Girls” Music Video

aespa recently made their comeback with their second mini-album Girls and released a title track of the same name.

With the release came an action-packed music video for “Girls,” where we see the group continue their metaverse storyline.

Through the music video, aespa finally defeats their serpent villain, Black Mamba. As Winter slays the villain, the scene changes to show the mind behind “Black Mamba” crumbling away in front of a computer screen with the words, “GAME OVER.”

To promote their new song and mini-album, aespa guested on MBC Radio, where they talked with MC and comedian Kim Shin Young about the process of making the “Girls” music video.

The girls loved their music video, but they encountered a few difficulties as they filmed. Here’s what each member believed was the most challenging part of filming.

1. Karina

aespa’s leader rode into battle again Black Mamba on a motorcycle in the music video for “Girls.” Karina shared that filming the motorcycle scene was scary because of the angles she had to do while posing.

Originally, a device was supposed to help secure her onto the motorcycle, but it kept getting in the shot. Karina showed her professionalism as she continued to film while pulling the scene off effortlessly.

2. Giselle

Giselle encountered an issue similar to Karina’s while she was filming with a four-wheeler.

She shared that it became difficult to balance and felt more like a core workout. She noted that, thankfully, you couldn’t tell from the music video.

3. Winter

aespa’s Winter was a sword-wielding fighter in the music video, tasked with the mission to destroy Black Mamba.

While the filming for the music video wasn’t necessarily difficult for her, the long hours on set were what was draining.

Kim Shin Young jokingly replied that Winter must be an introverted MBTI type, to which Winter confirmed she was.

4. NingNing

While NingNing may not have been wielding swords like Winter, she was working to defeat Black Mamba as a pro-hacker in the music video. Her skills gained Winter access to the vault where Black Mamba’s heart was located.

NingNing hilariously revealed that the group’s TikTok video was difficult for her to film, not the music video.
