AOA‘s Seolhyeon has been starring in JTBC‘s drama My Country: The New Age, in which she plays the character Han Hee Jae.
In advance of the broadcast’s end, Seolhyun posted two short videos to her Instagram Stories that said, “It’s the last time” and “Today’s ‘My Country’“. In the videos, Seolhyun is seen wearing a black down coat while crying. People around her said, “don’t cry“, but her eyes were already filled with large tears. Seolhyun was able to muster up a smile at the end of the video.
It’s understandable that Seolhyun would be sad about her drama coming to an end. My Country: The New Age has been very well received by fans, and Seolhyun has been passionate about promoting it, even reminding fans to watch it with posts to her social media accounts.
Seolhyun also posted a beautiful farewell note to the character, showing the strong bond she formed with the role she played.
Her tribute to her character read as follows:
Hello, this is Seolhyun who played the role of Han Hee Jae in My Country: The New Age. It feels like yesterday I was studying to understand Hee Jae as a person, but it’s already time to let her go. My Country: The New Age production site has always been welcoming and so full of things to learn. The director, the writer, and the staff all contributed to portraying Hee Jae as a wonderful character. And the sunbae-nims and colleagues who were sincere in their support made it possible for me to really focus on creating Hee Jae. I am truly grateful. For 9 long months, I’ve lived as Hee Jae. So now that I have to let her go, it saddens me. It made me proud, as whenever Hee Jae matured, I felt like I did too. Please remember Hee Jae for a long time, she knew how to voice herself in the most difficult times. Thank you so much for watching My Country: The New Age, from Han Hee Jae.
While we’re sad for Seolhyun and for fans of the drama, we know it’s just a matter of time before she picks up another lead role!
