A Beautiful Model Just Lost Her Hand, And She’s Shockingly Chill About It
While beauty is subjective and the industry has become much more inclusive, models usually represent the “ideals” of what beauty is “supposed to be.” According to the industry for a long time, this meant they had the “perfect” appearance, with no visible “blemishes” or “flaws.”
A model who recently suffered an accident will likely return to challenge these ideals.
Her long legs and slim figure make it easy to see why the gorgeous Chinese model Jessica Du chose this career path.
In addition to being a model, Jessica is also a daredevil, and her Instagram page is filled with photos of herself doing all kinds of adventurous and varying levels of dangerous activities, like skydiving, free-diving, and ski-ing.
In late December, Jessica shared a very different post from her others. The photo set reveals that she suffered an accident unrelated to her adventures that resulted in her left hand being amputated.
What stood out most was Jessica’s reaction to the dramatic life change. In her post, she shared that she would be fitted with a bionic prosthetic arm and showed excitement over “becoming a cyborg.”
Although it’s a sad thing, I’ll soon be fitted with a bionic prosthetic arm, brain-computer interface, and experience living as a human and machine and become a cyborg, which makes the future seem promising!

She also thanked her hand for “35 years of companionship,” kissing the bandages over her arm.
Her head was shaved in some photos, possibly related to the brain interface her bionic arm will have. She did admit her thoughts after it happened turned dark but she was able to accept what had happened.
[…] human willpower and adaptability are really strong. On the fifth day, after the amputation surgery, I completely accepted it, and started looking forward to the unknown after reading up on bionic technology.

She said that she will have another surgery and is in very high spirits!
We wish Jessica the best in her recovery!
