Here’s BLACKPINK’s Dancing Evolution, From Pre-YG Entertainment To Present
When it comes to dancing, BLACKPINK never fails to exceed fan’s expectations. Thanks to their years of intense training in YG Entertainment, they’ve built up a solid set of skills.
Their history with dancing was finally shown in their Netflix documentary BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky. Some members had completely different pre-debut experiences. For Lisa, it was natural for her to perform even as a kid.
I would just dance and sing to myself. That’s how my mom knew I loved dancing, so she signed me up for a course when I was in kindergarten.

She joined numerous classes as a child and she showed off her talent by entering—and winning—competitions.
When it was her turn to audition for YG Entertainment, Lisa impressed everyone with skills that were far better than average.
On the other hand, both Jisoo and Rosé were not well-versed with dancing when they first joined the company, with their strengths lying in singing instead.
For me, there were so many lessons in the beginning. I took three to four dancing lessons a day and practiced.
— Jisoo
Even Rosé, the current lead dancer of BLACKPINK, had no idea how to do the basic moves in class. She only started learning when she was 16 years old.
There’s this basic routine you have to learn in dancing. They’re just like, ‘Do this’ and I was like, ‘I don’t know how to do it’.
— Rosé
Despite these hardships, they pursued their dreams. All BLACKPINK members had long training periods that lasted from four to six years.
When the four trainees formed the group that would become BLACKPINK, their performance styles all fit in perfectly with each other.
At present, they’re considered one of the top girl groups in the world. Their dance style has elements of hip hop that fits their music and shows off their talent.
Their charisma on stage, prowess in singing, and well-trained dancing captured the world’s attention.
