BLACKPINK Jennie’s Cover Shoot Photographer Receives Scathing Criticism
BLACKPINK’s Jennie is the face on the covers of Harper’s BAZAAR US’s latest issue.
Keeping Jennie’s solo era in focus, the cover shoot showcased the idol’s many charms, her visuals shining through in each concept. However, there was mixed chatter about her outfits and overall stylistic choices.
Zoë Ghertner, the photographer who clicked Jennie for the BAZAAR cover, is now receiving criticism from Korean netizens after a post on Theqoo compiled some of her previous works, including big-name celebrities like Bella Hadid.
The pictures had similar stylistic choices, as the photographer seemed to have a knack for super close-up shots. The angles of the photos are also intriguing, almost always presenting a distorted perspective of the subjects’ faces.
The post has garnered over 58,000 views and 446 comments, but most of them are unimpressed with Ghertner’s style of photography. Many even went to the extent of saying that the photographer’s skills were non-existent.
- “I have this surge of confidence that I could take better photos.”
- “Wow, ugly.”
- “I guess it’s just that photographer’s unique style. She’s active because there’s demand in the industry.”
- “Yeah… I thought it was a fisheye lens, haha.”
- “She really can’t take pictures to save her life.”
- “This is professional work?”
- “I guess it’s a relief that this is the photographer’s style. If it was just with Jennie, I might have suspected racial discrimination.”
- “This is hilarious. Is this her portfolio? What kind of connections did she use to succeed?”
