BLACKPINK’s Jennie Reveals The Concept BLACKPINK Has Never Done That She Really Wants To Try
BLACKPINK is one of the top-of-mind K-Pop groups when it comes to the concept “Girl Crush”. They’re fashionable, cool, and talented. Everyone wants them or wants to be just like them.
Since the group debuted in 2016, they’ve done almost exclusively girl crush concepts. It was only with the release of The Album that they showed more sides to themselves.
For instance, “Ice Cream” was arguably even more light-hearted than “As If It’s Your Last”.
And “Lovesick Girls” was more melodic than their usual dance title tracks.
In their documentary BLACKPINK: Light Up The Sky, BLACKPINK discussed their concepts and where they stand today.
Seeing so many people love our music motivates us to try something new and different.

They explained that they were more experimental when they were still trainees. With their experiences here, they wish to explore more as an official group.
We’ve practiced and explored so many different things during our trainee days and so it’s just a matter of how much of that we could end up showing as BLACKPINK.
— Rosé
Jennie revealed the one concept she really wants to try out: girly. Not girl crush, but something more feminine.
We just have so much to show people. I don’t think we’ve done something really, really girly yet.
— Jennie
Explaining further what she meant by “girly”, Jennie gestured slowly with her hand, alluding that she wants a softer concept than usual.
Looking at some of BLACKPINK’s previous performances, it’s a version that would fit them perfectly!
