2 Of BTS And BIGBANG’s Most Legendary Performances Happened At MAMA According To Suga And Taeyang
BTS‘s Suga had the chance to meet one of his biggest inspirations as an idol, BIGBANG‘s Taeyang, on an episode of his new drinking reality show, Suchwita. Suga did not let the opportunity go to waste and asked Taeyang for a lot of advice about his career as a singer in a K-Pop boy group and a celebrity.
The rapper also asked questions as a VIP, the official fandom of BIGBANG. To start his train of thought, Suga said idols are like athletes because some of their stages were like career-defining games.
He reminisced about BTS’s performance of “MIC Drop” at the 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards, citing it as a time when he truly felt like his group was awesome.
Following Suga’s lead, Taeyang mentioned his performance of “Good Boy” at the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards with his teammate G-Dragon as an essential milestone for himself.
Suga recalled being in the crowd when Taeyang took his shirt off, making his guest feel embarrassed and laugh. “I didn’t plan to take off my top, though. I was going to wear a jacket that went with that outfit, but I just took it off before going up on stage. I took it off thinking, ‘It’ll look cooler if I take it off.’” Taeyang explained.
Like a true fan, Suga even remembered that Taeyang had a tan while performing. He made Taeyang shy again by saying that BTS had watched BIGBANG perform, thinking they wanted to be idols like them. Little did BTS know then, they would soon also serve as an inspiration to an entire generation of K-Pop singers. Taeyang returned Suga’s compliment by saying BTS is doing even better than BIGBANG ever did, but Suga insisted that BIGBANG would always be legendary.
