BTS’s Jin Opened Up About Losing Friends And Living A “Double Life”
On June 13, 2013, the lives of seven boys from South Korea changed forever. Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Kim Namjoon, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, and Jeon Jungkook became Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook of BTS.
In Episode 3 of Break The Silence, Jin opens up about living life as both Kim Seokjin and Jin of BTS, and what impact it has had on his friendships.
“I think the two lives are the same,” he began, “but I don’t live them in the same way. I think Jin of BTS always lives a cheerful life.”
“As Kim Seokjin, not much has changed for me, and I’m living a really happy life. But as Jin of BTS, life may be a bit difficult on the other side. If you gain some, you lose some.”
“There’s a lot of pressure to meet up with people. I haven’t changed, but my friends find it difficult to be around me.”
“It’s quite a shame to see them grow apart from me.”
“I’ve lost a lot of people around me.”
Although losing friends is painful, Jin is looking at what he has gained rather than what he has lost: the fans who helped make his dreams come true.
What makes up who I am now is our fans, ARMY, and they are the reason I’m able to do music. Because so many people love seeing me on stage, and because I can make so many people happy, I become happy through them. That’s why I want to perform even more.
