An Old Post Written By BTS’s Jin In 2014 Will Remind You Just How Far The Boys Have Come
Although the boys of BTS are world star millionaires now, they came from humble beginnings. Their rags-to-riches story is often a source of inspiration for many as they made it to where they are by their own two feet. An old post written in 2014 by Jin was brought to light again, and it will remind you just how far they’ve come. Prepare your tissues!
Back during 2014’s New Year period, Jin wanted to cook rice cake soup (ddeok-guk) for the boys as per New Year’s tradition.
He carefully wrote down the recipe for fans, as well as wrote a narration for the blog. He started off by listing out the ingredients used – “2014’s rice cake soup. First, the ingredients are a bag of frozen dumplings, a bag of flat rice cakes, a bag of cylindrical rice cakes and 3 bags of soup stock. As well as other condiments.” However, it was the next line that wrung hearts, “this year, we have no money, so no meat.”
After completing the recipe, he went on to thank his older brother for buying the ingredients. Jin wrote, “Thank you to the members that ate it deliciously, and also to be honest, there were ingredients I forgot to get so half of this was bought using hyung’s money… The expenses for 7 people’s food is quite intense… Just, to let you know… If you’re reading this hyung, next time we say we’re making something, please buy the ingredients for us too haha… just joking!”
The result was a delicious meal of rice cake soup and honey fried rice cakes.
Jin ended off the post by thanking his mother for sponsoring the following items, including the pot, the ladle, plates, utensils, salt and honey. He also apologized for raiding the house and made sure to say that he loves her.
The boys have indeed come far today, but they remain humble as they remember their roots.
