BTS Can’t Sing? Here’s How Jungkook Shut Critics Down
Today, BTS‘s vocal talents are well-known, but that wasn’t always the case. It took years to win over their critics.
Jungkook, in particular, went out of his way to prove that BTS’s vocals deserved recognition. Back in 2016, he appeared on the competition show King of the Masked Singer to break a stereotype BTS had been dealing with for three years.
“Yes, when we debuted, we were told that BTS was good at rapping but weak in vocals. We heard a lot about that,” Jungkook told the show’s host. “So from now on, we wanted to show more of our vocals too. That’s how I decided to come on this show. I hope people recognize there are singers like us. “
Since then, BTS’s diverse vocal skills have won them dozens of awards and global praise. If Jungkook were to ever give another masked performance, listeners would guess his identity from the very first note. He is now one of the most recognizable (and recognized) singers in the world!
