Many took an issue with the English version of the trailer where the introductory text read “From BTS to global solo pop superstar.” This phrase flashed on the screen in between Jungkook’s voice over saying he wondered if he could receive such wide-scale recognition without his group.

Notably, the Korean version of the trailer had a completely different text displayed during the same section.

The phrasing of the text has not sit well with many fans, who felt it was a deliberate attempt to rid Jungkook of his identity as a BTS member and to project him as a solo act exclusively. A lot of these ARMYs also expressed their suspicion that it reflected the intentions of Scooter Braun, the HYBE America CEO, who has been heavily involved in the solo career of the BTS maknae from the get-go.

Meanwhile, Jungkook’s documentary will be released globally on September 18.
