BTS’s Jungkook Recommends One K-Pop Song To Introduce New Fans To The Genre
As K-Pop enters its fifth generation, global interest in the genre is at an all-time high, with K-Pop artists breaking barriers in entertainment every day with their talent and hard work.
As K-Pop artists headline some of the world’s most popular music festivals, sit in the front rows of prestigious fashion events, and attend overseas award shows, new fans are being introduced to the genre daily through its increasing global exposure.
With K-Pop’s popularity continuing to grow, many fans have found themselves in the position of introducing their friends or loved ones to the genre for the first time.
One difficulty many have reported is picking which song to play them. Since K-Pop uniquely mixes many genres and each artist has their own sound, there are many options to choose from when making the important decision.
Luckily for ARMYs (BTS fans), maknae Jungkook made the choice a little easier for them when he selected the K-Pop song he would play to new fans for the first time in a recent interview with Sirius XM.
The interviewer asked, “… for people who have never heard of K-Pop, is there a song that you would like to play for them? Or, what is a song that you would select to introduce them to the genre of K-Pop?”
Jungkook, of course, chose a song from BTS’s expansive discography, selecting “Idol” as his choice.
The genre-bending 2018 hit song includes elements of traditional Korean style, culture, and folklore in the music video.
To Jungkook, “Idol” is a song that has a “powerful vibe that can show, ‘this is what a Korean idol is!’”
In the same interview, Jungkook admitted that he’s inspired by all of the music he listens to.
During his famous Weverse livestreams, he often introduces fans to new music from around the globe.
