BTS Has Released The Beginning Part Of “Stay Alive” And Here’s Why Fans Are Feeling Emotional

It always comes back to HYYH era…

Earlier today, BTS released the beginning part of “Stay Alive,” an OST for BTS’s ongoing Webtoon 7Fates: CHAKHO.

The OST was released as part of the fourth chapter of the Webtoon, and the full version will be released with the rest of the soundtrack for 7Fates: CHAKHO on February 11th, 2022.

The track is hauntingly beautiful, the lyrics filled with longing, desperation, and hope as Jungkook‘s voice pleads to “please stay alive” at the very beginning of the track.

Although fans always have high expectations for the incredible artists, once again, BTS have far surpassed what they could have imagined. This only makes sense given the combination of Jungkook’s ethereal vocals and Suga‘s incredible talent for producing heartfelt tracks.

But fans are taking to Twitter, incredibly emotional about the song, and it’s not just about the lyrics or BTS’s musical talent.

Instead, the emotional response ties into BTS’s storyline.

Although 7Fates: CHAKHO is an urban fantasy Webtoon, set in the near future while also inspired by the Beom (tiger) hunters of the Joseon dynasty, the story very clearly still relates to BTS as it’s about seven boys who must endure different trials to see what their destiny holds.

But this isn’t the only Webtoon that BTS has released. Back in 2019, they released SAVE ME, which was a means of exploring the storyline developed through BTS’s music videos and other discography.

The Webtoon and general storyline explore member Jin continually repeating a day in time, April 11th, to try and rescue all of his friends, the other six members, and bring them back together.

The storyline is dark and emotional and reminds fans of “Stay Alive.”

In the storyline, which is commonly referred to as HYYH (alternatively the Youth Trilogy or The Most Beautiful Moment In Life), which fans have heavily analyzed, Jungkook and Suga’s plotlines are heavily intertwined.

The storyline infers that the two were incredibly close friends in school, but when Suga got expelled for protecting Jungkook, Jungkook blamed himself, and the two grew apart.

The storyline gets extra dark from there, with Jin trying to rescue Jungkook and Yoongi from death, although ultimately, with the help of their members, the two are able to save each other.

Because of this, fans find the idea of Jungkook and Suga encouraging each other to “Stay Alive” even more meaningful.

And more than slightly bitterly ironic.

And fans have taken to Twitter to even make edits from HYYH clips throughout BTS’s discography set to the new OST.

And the editors are undoubtedly talented, leaving fans both incredibly emotional…

… and yet unable to stop watching the edits.

And the footage pairs with the song perfectly.

Fortunately, some editors have taken the OST in a lighter direction and have compiled funnier, more light-hearted moments of the two idols.

Although 7Fates: CHAKHO hasn’t been completed yet so it is still too early to decide how this new story may intersect with the HYYH storyline, the pairing of the two for the OST leaves fans already wondering about the possible connections.
