The Top Singer Who Disappeared From TV After An Abortion Scandal
For those into Asian Pop Culture, you probably would have heard of Cai XuKun at least once. He hopped onto the mainstream radar with his successful stint on the audition program Idol Producer.
He went on to win the show, debuting as the center and leader of Nine Percent.
Cai XuKun experienced success as a solo as well, releasing his EP 1 in 2018. In 2020, he was hired as a panelist on Youth With You. K-Pop fans got introduced to him here as BLACKPINK‘s Lisa was also on the panel.
He went on to rank 31st on Forbes’ China Celebrity 100 list in 2020. He continued his success streak with a statue of himself at Madame Tussauds and a 2022 release, “Hug Me,” which topped the charts. In 2023, his fans were hit with sudden news. On June 26, 2023, a netizen claimed that he had a one-night stand with a woman, leading to her pregnancy in 2021. She later aborted his baby. The woman claimed to have been threatened by his mother, who even installed a CCTV in front of her door to monitor her actions. The woman showed abortion certificates to prove it.
Netizens also obtained a recording of his mother allegedly instructing money to be given to the girl.

Due to the high censorship against disgraced figures, his videos were removed from China Central Television’s streaming platforms swiftly. On July 3, 2023, Cai XuKun spoke up on Weibo, stating that the relationship was between two consensual adults and that the abortion was voluntary and agreed upon. He did apologize to fans for his actions and promised to be more disciplined in the future.

Cai XuKun also denied allegations of sleeping with a fan when she was a minor. The claim was later proven false when the fan in question stated that the paparazzi had spread her photos and used fake information to deceive the public. His last release for the year was Phenomenon in Feburary 2023.
In 2024, Cai XuKun is back and better than ever. He is recently active as an ambassador for luxury brand Versace.
