What Caused Kim Jaejoong To “Suddenly” Change His Behavior Toward Junsu?
After 20 episodes, the first season of JYJ Kim Jaejoong‘s fun and often chaotic talk show, JaeFriends, has officially come to a close.
In order for the final season one episode to be extra meaningful, the JaeFriends crew surprised Jaejoong with a special guest: his fellow group member, Junsu.
As fellow group members and friends of 20+ years, the two didn’t hold back as they playfully exposed stories from each other’s pasts, revealing behind-the-scenes information about their time promoting together.
During the episode, the duo took viewers back to where it all started as they reminisced about meeting as SM Entertainment trainees before debuting in the popular second-generation group TVXQ.
The two addressed Jaejoong’s earlier JaeFriends episode with Girls’ Generation‘s Sooyoung, where they discussed the seniority established between SM Entertainment trainees.
Junsu jokingly confronted his fellow member about his statement that Junsu glared at him when they were trainees. Jaejoong doubled down, insisting Junsu did, while Junsu denied the claim.
After Jaejoong reenacted their “cold” first meeting, Junsu clarified what happened. He explained that he had grown close to many trainees before they were cut from the training program, and he was dealing with the emotions of that when Jaejoong arrived.
Junsu hilariously added that Jaejoong’s image and personality are a lot “softer” now, admitting he was difficult to approach when they were trainees.
As they got to know each other, they became closer as same-age friends until something changed.
Junsu revealed that after comfortably speaking informally to each other for two years, Jaejoong suddenly began acting like his senior, shocking Junsu with the change.
The change came about when Jaejoong became a pre-debut member of Four Seasons, the SM Entertainment boy group with Kangin and Heechul, who eventually became Super Junior members, and Yunho and Jaejoong, who debuted together in TVXQ.
After preparing for their debut as Four Seasons, the pre-debut group was suddenly dismantled. Having had that experience, Jaejoong debuted with TVXQ with the mindset of a sunbae, leaving Junsu feeling uncomfortable whenever they were alone together because he didn’t know how to address him.
Jaejoong revealed that he had admired Junsu and had wanted to become closer to him, which eventually happened.
The two concluded they quickly made it through their uncomfortable phase and clarified that it happened a long time ago.
