Chungha Discusses How She Jumped From A Mid-Level Trainee To A Top Pick In Mnet’s “Produce 101”
Chungha is currently a soloist who released hit songs such as “Gotta Go,” “Rollercoaster,” and recently “EENIE MEANIE.” To get to this stage, she first joined Mnet‘s survival program Produce 101 Season 1.
In an interview with Radio Star, she recounted the dramatic turnaround that saw her going from relatively mid-tier trainee to a top pick. This was all because of one performance that became viral: “BANG BANG.” It currently has over 50 million views on YouTube.
I think I started at 39th place but I debuted in 4th place. Fortunately, the ‘Bang Bang’ performance went viral.

Though she was the one who made the biggest contributions to the self-made choreography, she humbly attributed her success to her team.
My friends were like, ‘I think it’d be good to do this and that’ and I took those ideas and put it together.

Because they complimented her choreography and dancing skills and brought her to the forefront of attention among the public, she gained new fans. Without them, her efforts would not be clearly seen.
And the members talked about me in such a good light during interviews. I think that’s why I was able to go up.
