ENHYPEN’s Jungwon And Ni-ki Talk About What They Love About Being The Leader And Maknae
In K-Pop groups, the role of leaders is to make the members’ charms and strengths stand out as well as create synergy as a team. Leaders are communication channels between the group and the agency, so most of them are the oldest members (but not always). On the other hand, the youngest is in charge of the group’s energy. Both are major roles every group has.
Sports Seoul recently released interviews of the leaders and maknaes of several K-Pop groups to ask how they felt in the position they’re in. Here is ENHYPEN‘s leader and maknae interview!
Let’s begin with leader Jungwon!
Q: What do you like about being the leader?
I receive support and respect from both the older and the younger members.
—Jungwon
Q: Are there times when being a leader is difficult?
Sometimes I get worried, but at times like that I get help from the older members and listen to the younger members’ opinions.
—Jungwon
Q: When do you envy the maknae (Ni-ki)?
I don’t really envy him because the older members already treat me like a maknae.
—Jungwon
Q: If you could be born again, would you be the leader or the maknae?
I’d like to be a leader again. I think I could be a better leader from knowing my experiences now.
—Jungwon
Q: Anything to encourage the maknae for the new year?
Even though Ni-ki is the youngest, he’s sometimes more mature than his hyungs, so somtimes I’m surprised by him. I like both the mature Ni-ki and the cute Ni-ki. Let’s rely on each other a little more and fight on!
—Jungwon
Let’s see what Ni-ki thinks!
Q: What’s your favorite thing about being the maknae?
I’m grateful that my hyungs take care of me as if I’m their real brother and help me during difficult times.
—Ni-ki
Q: What’s difficult about being the maknae?
There’s nothing difficult, but sometimes I want to use informal language haha.
—Ni-ki
Q: When are you envious of the leader (Jungwon)?
There are times when I envy Jungwon for his cool and responsible image when he demonstrates leadership.
—Ni-ki
Q: If you were born again in the same group, would you want to be the leader or the maknae?
I want to be the maknae again with good hyungs like I have now.
—Ni-ki
Q: Words for the leader for the New Year?
Thank you for always helping the members and being such a good leader!
—Ni-ki
Looks like ENHYPEN is a tight-knit, supportive group that values their members no matter the age!
