The Fansign Interaction That Had SHINee’s Taemin Feeling His Age
SHINee‘s Taemin returned from his mandatory military service earlier this year and wasted no time reuniting with his fellow group members to celebrate SHINee’s 15th anniversary, and more recently, he made his highly-anticipated solo comeback.
Taemin returned with his fourth solo mini-album, Guilty, on October 30, his first solo release in over two years.
To celebrate, he’s been making his promotional rounds and discussing everything from his trainee days, his role model status among newer artists, his K-Pop idol friendships, his dream collaboration, and more.
After celebrating his 15th debut anniversary, 9th solo debut anniversary, and 30th birthday this year, Taemin has spent time reflecting on his long and successful career.
While filming for the new variety show Curator, Taemin looked back on SHINee’s debut single, “Replay,” and explained that it means even more to him now, as he’s grown closer to his fellow members.
He added that the meaningful song allowed him “to exist,” as it was the first song to introduce Taemin, then 14 years old, to fans as SHINee’s maknae.
The Korean title for “Replay” is Noona Neomu Yeppeo” (Noona, you’re so pretty), and Curator host HoonD jokingly pointed out that Taemin is 30 now, and all of the noona fans are married.
HoonD wanted to know if Taemin had any memorable stories with noona fans, and one moment came to mind.
Taemin shared that during a fansign event, a noona (a term commonly used by a male to address an older sister or an older female friend) fan asked him to say “I love you” and her name.
After fulfilling the request, Taemin revealed that the fan began talking about her husband and kids. After that happened, Taemin hilariously realized how much time had passed since his debut
During his Curator episode, Taemin also reflected on his days as a trainee and revealed the SM Entertainment rule he often broke with EXO‘s Kai.
