In an attempt to scare the teenager, Yang reportedly picked up a 3-foot-long samurai sword and poked him in the back, leaving a 4-inch long cut at his waist.

CCTV footage would show Yang carrying his son outside while waiting for emergency services.

While speaking with the police, Yang said he did not intend to hurt him.

I just wanted to scare him. I did the worst thing out of the best motivation.

The teen was rushed to the hospital, where he died from blood loss a few hours later. Yang was then taken into custody on charges of assault.

During the trial, forensic test results showed that the teenager had many older injuries, leading many to believe he may have been physically harmed before his death.
