(G)I-DLE’s Yuqi Under Fire For Allegedly Making Colorist Comment

(G)I-DLE‘s Yuqi is currently being criticized for her allegedly colorist and racist comment.

Members Yuqi, Shuhua and Minnie held an online broadcast with fans on November 14. While Shuhua talked about watching the K-Drama Signal, Yuqi joked about Shuhua needing darker skin to be a police officer as they need to hide in the darkness to catch criminals.

This comment is angering international fans as they believe Yuqi to be colorist or an individual who discriminates based on skin tone.

They say she does not deserve to be defended as it is a grave error to make.

Others, however, are coming to Yuqi’s defense, explaining that her comment was simply meant to praise Shuhua’s white skin, a compliment for most East Asians.

Firstly Yuqi clearly was referring to Shuhua 's snow white skin (which she is known for) that she will be easily spotted which is logical.

Either way, fans agree that educating Yuqi over sending hate comments is the best way to go following this controversy.

This is not the first time (G)I-DLE is criticized for issues like this, as they were under fire during Queendom for cultural appropriation.
