“2 Years Left” — (G)I-DLE Don’t Hold Back As They Hilariously “Shade” CUBE Entertainment
One thing fans have always loved about (G)I-DLE is their courage to always speak their minds despite the strict requirements typically set in place for idols. (G)I-DLE have even boldly called out their company, CUBE Entertainment, in the past. Joking about how CUBE Entertainment doesn’t “even fix [their] AC,” much less put out a red carpet despite being the company’s breadwinners.
Their recent interview with 1theK Originals was no exception, with the members joking about what they’d like to ask for from CUBE Entertainment.
Soyeon: We could get paid a lot more.
Miyeon: About sharing the profit.
And even jokingly pointing out to the staff that there was no reason to be afraid of their company.
Miyeon: You’re afraid of CUBE?
Shuhua: What are you afraid of?
To wrap up the interview, (G)I-DLE were asked what 1theK means to them. While the members started talking about how helpful the YouTube channel has been since their debut, Yuqi joked that they should have been asked about CUBE Entertainment instead.
So 1theK fulfilled Yuqi’s wish and then asked the group what their company means to them. Yuqi immediately knew what she wanted to answer, responding with a sound effect to indicate saying goodbye.
And even though Soyeon protested Yuqi’s brutal response…
Shuhua chimed in with an even more savage reply, quickly typing “two years left [until their contracts expire]” before her members deleted it.
Soyeon quickly took over their replies after Shuhua’s bold answer, changing it to express the group’s love for CUBE Entertainment.
Although (G)I-DLE are always being playful when they shade CUBE Entertainment and fans don’t know the sincerity of their criticisms, fans have often spoken up against CUBE Entertainment’s treatment of their groups. Netizens firmly believe that the group could take better care of their talented artists.
