(G)I-DLE Fans Are Furious Over The Group’s Inactivity On Paid Communication Platforms

Even netizens agreed with the complaints.

On May 2, KST, girl group (G)I-DLE celebrated their sixth debut anniversary.

On that day, each member took to their social media accounts to celebrate the occasion in their own ways. Minnie uploaded a group photo on her Instagram, along with a clip from a photoshoot. In the caption, she expressed her love for her members. Miyeon also commented under the picture, expressing her love for the members.

Soyeon posted a selfie with a brief thank you message to fans.

The group also held a livestream on their anniversary to spend time with fans. However, some have expressed their disappointment regarding the anniversary celebration. The main reason behind their anger is the group’s inactivity on fan communication platforms, Weverse or Bubble. Notably, the latter is a paid subscription service, and hence, fans’ expectations are usually much higher.

“It’s May 3. Yet, not a single member came by Bubble, Instagram, or Weverse to celebrate the debut anniversary.”

“Soyeon-ah, you are an idol before a producer. Communicate a little…”

“From April 10, 2023, to May 3, 2024

[Out of the] 390 days, she came a total of 23 times. Only once in 2024. Out of the 13 months, she didn’t show for 5.

I pay for these idols’ paid services every month, but there is no service being provided.

Soyeon-ah, I don’t even care about the other days, but I really thought you would come by Bubble today.”

These grievances have left even non-fans shocked after a post containing a compilation of some of them went viral on an online community.

  • “LOL. This is my first time seeing an idol who didn’t appear (on fan platforms) even on an anniversary.”
  • “Whoa???”
  • “I’m sure she wasn’t like this when she appeared on Produce 101 (idol survival show).”
  • “Oh…”
  • “Wow, shocking.”
  • “If it’s a paid service, they should obviously do it. Money doesn’t grow on trees.”
