(G)I-DLE’s Minnie Was Asked Similar Questions About Her Musical Influences But Gave Two Very Different Answers
(G)I-DLE‘s Minnie has been promoting all over Thailand for a majority of the summer. Alongside taking many stunning magazine cover photos, Minnie has also sat down for quite a few interviews with these same magazines.
In a recent interview with Harper’s BAZAAR Thailand, Minnie was asked about her role model. She answered Alicia Keys “because when [she] was a child [she] used to watch television with [her] mother,” and she would see the song “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys.
Minnie then shared that this song “inspired me that she is my role model.”
She finished up by explaining that she has “loved her since that day.”
However, almost two months prior to this interview, Minnie revealed a love for a different famous pianist with L’Officiel Thailand. Minnie was asked “If you could be an artist in the past, who would you be?”
She quickly responded that “it would be Beethoven”
She then had another sweet story to share about her mother.
The reason is the first song I heard my mom played and inspired me to learn how to play piano is “Für Elise.” The song that everybody know the melody. I’m amazed with how he created such legendary work in his time. I want to know what were his inspirations to compose his well known songs. I want to get into his head.

This response was especially fascinating as earlier in this specific interview, Minnie had been passionate to talk about the songs she’d written for (G)I-DLE’s most recent mini album, I Burn. Hearing her share her fascination with this famous composer gives a deeper insight into her as a writer. Both her and Beethoven have even written songs about the Moon!
It’s interesting how these publications were able to get such different answers from Minnie by moving the timeline of these similar questions from present to past. However different her answers may seem, she did list two brilliant pianists who are also excellent composers which may give some insight into Minnie as a musician.
