Girl Group Confirms Disbandment…Through An Instagram DM

It had been years since their last activities.

Disbandments of groups are usually something fans hate to see occur. With smaller groups, however, disbandments can be harder to deal with as they may never be formally announced.

With the disbandment of a particular 4th generation girl group, fans were actually given the closure they looked for….through an Instagram direct message.

In 2017, the label Aftermoon announced through the crowdfunding site Makestar that a girl group would be formed and debuted. Those who contributed to the donations could vote on who would be the group’s leader.

After several line-up changes, WeGirls officially debuted as an eight-membered group in August 2018.

Following the release of a single, member HaL announced her departure from the group, while four other members also departed in 2019 and 2020.

It was then announced that the group would add members to the lineup in 2020, with new members ex-Bulldok‘s Kimi, Do Hayoon, and ex-Midnight‘s Byeoljji being confirmed in April 2021.

However, WeGirls’ social media went silent shortly after this, leaving fans wondering what was happening.

It wasn’t until March 2022 that Yehana confirmed that the group had disbanded in a direct message.

Since then, the original members of We:Girls have gone on various paths in the entertainment industry. Member E.You (Ko Ha Jung) has signed under another agency as an actress, while HaL is now active on live streaming platforms as a BJ.

Member Hyeni was active on Instagram, but has gone over a year without make a new post on her feed. Han Jeong A is an influencer that is active on YouTube and Instagram.

Several members have continued their musical aspirations as well.

Ellie is an independent artist, while Nina and Eun A have re-debuted as members of Bunny.T

YeHana made her solo debut before the group’s disbandment, originally staying under Aftermoon. She was active as member of a Christian group called Love-L that released their first album in January 2024, but seems to have backed out following her pregnancy.

It is interesting to see see where the group’s members have gone since their unorthodox disbandment announcement.
