Meet The Half-Filipino K-Pop Idol Who Already Joined Two Girl Groups And Two Survival Shows
There are only a handful of Filipinos who can say they’re part of the Korean entertainment industry. One of them is Belle, the lead vocalist of cignature.
She was born in Naju, South Korea, on November 3, 2001 to a Korean father and Filipina mother. Though she’s only 21 years old, she’s already gone through many trials in order to achieve her dream to be a singer.
1. Debut #1: GOOD DAY
To begin, Belle made her debut as a member of C9 Entertainment‘s first girl group GOOD DAY in 2017. She was the maknae and lead vocalist, performing under the stage name Lucky.
They released their first song, “Rolly,” in September 2017.
2. Survival Show #1: The Unit
Viewers of the KBS survival show The Unit (2017) may recognize Belle as the contestant who helped lead others despite her young age. Though she failed the Boot Evaluations in Episode 1, she was brought back in Episode 4. She eventually made it to 24th place.
3. Debut #2: cignature
Following The Unit, she re-debuted as the lead vocalist of cignature under her current stage name Belle. The group of seven was made up of five members of GOOD DAY and was managed by the subsidiary of C9 Entertainment, J9 Entertainment.
They made their debut with the song “Nun Nu Nan Na” in January 2021.
Their latest comeback was in January 2023 with their third mini album My Little Aurora which included the title track “Aurora.”
4. Survival Show #2: Universe Ticket
The Unit would not be Belle’s last survival show. It was announced this month that she would be one of the contestants of SBS‘s global audition show Universe Ticket.
It pits together 82 girls of various ages and nationalities as they compete to win a position in an eight member project group.
