Jennie’s decision to become a trainee came at an early age, as she was originally going to move to the United States.

Once she considered her options, Jennie didn’t like the idea of living alone and thought about what she wanted to do with her life. After much consideration, Jennie decided that she wanted to become a singer.

When Jennie grew the courage to tell her mother, she was 100% supportive of Jennie’s decision.

Jennie soon became a trainee at YG Entertainment, but she ran into many difficulties.

YG Entertainment would do strict monthly evaluation tests to see if their trainees were improving.

After over 5 years of training, Jennie officially made her debut as a member of BLACKPINK.

However, Jennie still experienced many hardships after her debut. Many netizens criticized her dancing skills, as they believed that she was a lazy performer.

Some netizens also attacked Jennie when she made her solo debut in 2018, as they believed that Jennie was getting too much favoritism from YG Entertainment.

Despite all this backlash, Jennie went on to prove how talented of an artist she is.
