iKON’s Bobby Gets Real About The Reasons Behind His “Diss” Towards BTS’s RM
iKON‘s Bobby recently gained attention after revealing the reason behind his “diss” towards BTS‘s RM in 2014.
Back in 2014, iKON’s Bobby was under a lot of flack for writing a diss rap targetting idol rappers, including BTS’s RM.
In the lyrics, fans thought he was referencing RM in the line, “Call me a monster, I didn’t give that name to myself, I’m Won Bin in front of bulletproof glass when it comes to skills and looks.” Fans believed Bobby’s references to “a monster” and “bulletproof glass” were aimed at RM and BTS’s literal name, “Bulletproof Boy Scouts.”
RM then responded in his own way, and even in 2024, it’s still a hot topic, especially after Bobby brought it up in a recent interview.
In a recent video, the host brought up his “diss” towards BTS’s RM, saying it was Bobby bringing his own flair to the idol rap scene and that the BTS leader knew his intentions, and it explained why there was a response from RM.
It was emphasized that many netizens didn’t understand the concept and thought it was a direct and personal attack on RM.
Bobby joked that when the idea was being brought up, some people around him even suggested that he write it about EXO, but he added, “If I messed with EXO, I’d be dead.”
The host even hinted that Bobby picking RM was out of respect because Bobby wanted a response, and it was known that RM would hit back with something on the same level, because of his skills and love for rap.
Bobby explained that after seeing artist Kendrick do something similar on a Big Sean track, he wanted to do it as well but chose to stay well away from EXO.
It is still such an iconic moment for K-Pop fans, and while it caused a stir, there have been plenty of examples showing there is no bad blood between Bobby and RM.
