ITZY’s Yeji Opens Up About An Unexpected Difficulty For K-Pop Idols During Concerts
ITZY always bring immense energy and incredible stages to their concerts, ensuring their fans are captivated until the very end of their shows.
In a recent behind-the-scenes video of an offline concert, We All Are One, Chaeryeong admitted that she wasn’t feeling well before the show started, which she believes was caused by having eaten when it was too cold.
I think I have an upset stomach. You shouldn’t eat when the weather’s cold.
— Chaeryeong
In response, Yeji shared that it can be difficult for idols to judge how much they should eat before a concert starts. On the one hand, K-Pop concerts usually go on for hours and require almost-constant singing and dancing from the idols. The energy needed to be successful requires food. But on the other hand, it would be challenging to perform properly on a full stomach.
In Yeji’s experience, eating a lot definitely has its positives.
When I eat a lot before going on stage, I’m sometimes very energetic.
— Yeji
But there are more likely to be issues that arise from having overeaten before performing.
But I’ve realized most of the time that it’s better to have a somewhat empty stomach before going on stage.
— Yeji
Still, Yeji clarifies that idols need energy to perform at concerts, which means at least eating something.
Not completely empty. But slightly full.
— Yeji
And even though Yeji has learned this from experience, she still doesn’t always follow her own advice, worried she’ll “become too hungry on stage.”
That’s not always the case for me. I eat a lot because I’m worried I might become too hungry on stage.
— Yeji
Ultimately, it’s a challenge for idols to decide how much they should eat before performing.
It’s tough.
