IU Sings At Actor Lee Jong Suk’s Brother’s Wedding, Reminding Fans Of Their Decade-Long Friendship
IU and actor Lee Jong Suk recently reunited at the actor’s younger brother’s wedding, reminding fans of the pair’s ten-year friendship.
IU recently held an extremely successful two-night concert in Seoul on September 17 and 18 to celebrate her 14th anniversary. Her show, The Golden Hour, was held at Seoul Olympic Stadium, making her the first female K-Pop artist to headline at the venue.
Two weeks after performing for the 88,000 fans that attended the sold-out shows, she had a much more intimate performance singing the congratulatory song at Lee Jong Suk’s younger brother’s wedding.
For the congratulatory song, IU sang “Meaning of You,” the song she released on her cover mini-album A Flower Bookmark in 2014. The love song was originally performed by the Korean rock band Sanulrim in 1984, and IU chose to cover the song for her mini-album because her middle school crush liked the song, and it reminded her of him.
Those fond feelings and memories associated with the cover made it a touching song to use to wish the newlywed couple congratulations.

Lee Jong Suk has openly spoken about being a fan of IU’s legendary vocals and named IU’s “Winter Sleep” as a song that makes him emotional when he listens to it during an interview with ELLE Korea.
While IU was performing, Lee Jong Suk intently watched her sing from his seat, living out his fan dreams.
In another video captured from the wedding, IU was seen adorably waving goodbye to her long-time friend Lee Jong Suk.

Seeing IU perform at the wedding reminded fans of the beginning of Lee Jong Suk and IU’s friendship, which goes back a decade.
The two met when they were both MCs on SBS‘s Inkigayo in 2012. Although they seem close now, they didn’t always share the same vision for their MCing duties when they hosted Inkigayo, which was the reason they rarely interacted behind-the-scenes.
Lee Jong Suk previously shared on an SBS variety program that IU would suggest different costumes for the MC duo to wear on Inkigayo, which he didn’t like to do.
While they both were complete professionals on-screen, Lee Jong Suk revealed they didn’t talk very much when they weren’t filming. After he left Inkigayo at the end of 2012 to focus on his acting, they began to speak more and grew to be friends.
It’s nice to see their friendship still strong after all these years!
