IVE’s Wonyoung Earns Praise For Wearing Traditional Korean Jewelry During Paris Fashion Week
IVE‘s Wonyoung caught the eyes of fans and locals during her recent trip to France for Paris Fashion Week. One touching detail of her outfit earned praise from netizens as she made sure to bring a piece of Korean culture to the Haute Couture event.
The IVE member recently flew to France for luxury jeweler FRED‘s Palais De Tokyo Paris exhibition.
Even before she arrived, she stole the show with her elegant airport fashion, looking as if she had stepped directly out of a Korean drama.
In August, Wonyoung made history as the first Korean artist to be named a global ambassador of the French jewelry brand and stunned as she represented the luxury brand at Paris Fashion Week.
Wonyoung arrived at the FRED event wearing an off-the-shoulder corset top with a high-low skirt for a youthful, classy, and trendy look. She paired the look with beautiful diamond jewelry from FRED’s Force 10 collection.
Even in low-quality videos from the event, Wonyoung served high-quality visuals. Netizens praised his stunning visuals and noticed a touching addition to her outfit that night.
While she wore FRED rings, earrings, bracelets, and a necklace, in her hair, she wore a traditional Korean hairpiece.
Wonyoung wore a $360 USD sterling silver Korean Binyeo, a traditional hairpin meant to help keep a bun in place. It can also be used as an ornamental piece.
The Binyeo was in the shape of a phoenix, which during the Silla Dynasty (57 BCE – 935 CE), was a shape only permitted to be worn by women in the royal family. This meaningful choice brought Wonyoung’s “princess” nickname to life.
Netizens on a popular Korean forum found the hairpiece. They praised Wonyoung for incorporating the Binyeo into her look for the night, hoping to see her in traditional Korean hanbok soon.
