Why Actor Ji Chang Wook Has Decided To Never Drink Alone Again
Actor Ji Chang Wook recently appeared on a variety show with his co-stars to discuss his latest K-Drama, Gangnam B-Side, and more. While on the show, the star also revealed details about his drinking habits.
In the latest episode of Daesung’s YouTube variety show ZIP Daesung, Daesung interviewed Jo Woo Jin, Ji Chang Wook, and Ha Yoon Kyung. In Gangnam B-Side, a new, gritty crime K-Drama about Gangnam’s underbelly, they play an ostracized cop, a mysterious broker, and a prosecutor, respectively.
Although most of the show centered on Gangnam B-Side and the actors’ professional lives, Daesung also asked a few playful questions about their personal lives. A conversation about the cast’s post-filming dinners segued into a discussion about the actors’ individual drinking habits.
“In my case, I’ve drunk alone just twice,” Ji Chang Wook said. The first time was when he was 20 years old and legally able to drink as an adult in Korea. “I wanted to drink alone.”
“I wanted to know what it’s like to become an adult,” he continued. At first, everything went well for him. “After drinking soju, I went outside and looking up at the sky, [and I thought], ‘I’ve grown up now…'”
Unfortunately, that beautiful moment ended with…
The first time Ji Chang Wook drank alone was to get a taste of adulthood. The second time he drank alone was for an entirely different reason. “It happened because I was heartbroken,” he told Jo Woo Jin.
“I drank alone because I was having a hard time. I drank and cried.”
