Jihyo Spills On The TWICE Sub-Unit That Almost Was

TWICE has had many career “firsts” over the last few years. In 2021, they released their first original English single, “The Feels,” Nayeon became the first TWICE member to go solo in 2022, and Mina, Sana, and Momo formed TWICE’s first sub-unit, MISAMO, in 2023.

Most recently, TWICE’s leader Jihyo made her long-awaited solo debut and released her first EP, ZONE on August 18.

Of the seven songs on the EP, Jihyo was credited as a co-composer on four of the songs, allowing her to showcase her multiple talents.

To promote her solo debut, Jihyo filmed a fun interview with Spotify, during which she revealed there was almost a second TWICE sub-unit that was preparing a special stage for one of the group’s concerts which was canceled due to COVID-19.

Jihyo began by excitedly saying she could “finally tell the world now” that Jeongyeon, Nayeon, and herself were preparing a unit stage for their concert.

TWICE’s leader recently discussed how close she was to debuting in a group before TWICE, called 6MIX, with former JYP Entertainment trainees Lena, Minyoung, and Cecilia, as well as fellow members Nayeon, Jeongyeon, and later Sana.

Jeongyeon, Nayeon, and Jihyo, original members of 6MIX’s pre-debut line-up, became known as TWICE’s 3MIX-line.

Jihyo explained that the concert during which they were meant to debut their special sub-unit stage was canceled due to COVID-19.

The TWICE leader shared that fans call the three members “Jjimbangpa,” and she hopes that the long-time friends will eventually be able to show fans their special stage.
