Who Is She? The K-Drama Actress Being Sued For Having An Affair With A Married Man
Actress Ha Na Gyeong recently took over headlines after her involvement with a married man was exposed by the media. She got sued by “A,” the wife of the man she was seeing, for breaking up her family.
On July 18, a Busan court ordered that the actress pay the victim (“A”) ₩15.0 million KRW (about $11,900 USD) for having inappropriate relations with her husband. According to reports, Ha Na Gyeong became pregnant after meeting A’s husband at an adult establishment in Busan in 2021, continuing the affair until April 2022.
While this news has brought much public attention to Ha Na Gyeong, this isn’t the first time she has faced a controversy. Back in 2012, the actress suffered a severe wardrobe malfunction at the 33rd Blue Dragon Film Awards and ended up exposing her breasts on camera. Around the same time, other stars also suffered red-carpet wardrobe malfunctions that many believed were purposely done for attention, and the public opinion about Ha Na Gyeong’s incident wasn’t different. So eventually, she had to issue a public apology for it.
She also had a public fallout with actress Kang Eun Bi on a live broadcast. The two acted together in a movie called Love Match and reunited spontaneously during a livestream where Kang appeared as a guest. After a cold greeting over the phone, they started feuding over various aspects of the time they spent working together. The mood turned sour, escalating so much over the next day that the parties considered filing slander charges. Later, a staff who worked on the set of Love Match uploaded a post stating that while Kang was a good actor to work with, Ha Na Gyeong was very unprofessional during the filming.
Though she is better known for her scandals, as an actress Ha Na Gyeong has multiple projects under her belt. Born in 1986, she debuted as an actress in 2005 with Chosun Police. She would go on to appear in various dramas, including The King Of Legend, Scarlet Letter, and New Tales of the Gisaeng, as well as in movies such as House With A Nice View, Wrestling, and Touch By Touch.
Though she doesn’t appear in mainstream movies or shows that much anymore, Ha Na Kyeong is still very active, but with a new name, So Hye Ri. She has been active as an adult broadcaster (BJ) on platforms like Afreeca TV and Panda TV under the name and also runs a YouTube channel where she posts vlogs frequently.
Though the wardrobe malfunction and recent adultery scandals are significant issues, her most severe public scandal involved another romantic relationship. In October 2019, it was reported that a court sentenced her to eight months in prison, suspended for two years, on charges of committing dating violence against her then-boyfriend.
The actress met the guy in 2017 at an adult entertainment facility and reportedly subjected him to violence multiple times, including driving her car at him, choking, and trying to snap his wrists. She also made malicious comments about him after inviting 80 acquaintances to a chatroom.
After reports of an anonymous actress getting sentenced by the court on charges of dating violence broke out, Ha Na Gyeong tried to deny that it was her before she admitted the truth during a broadcast on Afreeca TV. But she claimed that the reports were inaccurate and that the guy had used her for her money.
She added that he had filed a false suit against her, and she responded with a countersuit. Contrary to the media’s claims, she said she was the victim in the situation because not only did her then-boyfriend fabricate situations that would look like abuse, but he also physically assaulted her, the evidence she had submitted to the court.
