There are viral moments peeking through the facade, such as IVE‘s Wonyoung who lost an extension midway through her performance or Red Velvet‘s Irene who exposed her true bangs without a hairpiece during a livestream.

Fans get upset with stylists on various occasions when they fail to blend the idol’s hair extensions properly with their real hair, like MAMAMOO‘s Hwasa and TWICE‘s Jihyo.

KISS OF LIFE and Girl’s Day‘s Hyeri recently revealed the truth about idols’ hair and how much of it is fake.

After failing to recognize Natty at a salon due to her super short hair, Hyeri was surprised when she emerged with long hair for the group’s comeback.

She shared the truth about what really happened — She needed to get extensions after severely damaging her hair.

I bleached my hair 15 times!

— Natty

The members weren’t shy to reveal the truth: All of their hair is fake!

Julie: This is all fake.

Belle: Our hair is all fake

Haneul: There’s nothing real here.

Natty: Fake of life!

The reason? Scalp care is extremely important. As an idol, bleaching their hair regularly causes breakage to the hair. To avoid further damage, they cut it off and replace it with extensions.

It’s not just their own group — Even Hyeri’s hair is fake, too!

It’s safe to say that some K-Pop idols use fake hair! Watch the full video below.
