The “Reply 1997” Cast Asks For A Sequel—The Director Responds
As the cast of Reply 1997 celebrated the tenth anniversary of the drama’s airing, they also reunited with the director. They couldn’t pass up the chance to ask about a possible sequel for the successful show.
Actors Lee Si Eon and Seo In Guk revealed that a sequel to Reply 1997 often pops up as a topic of discussion for them. Lee Si Eon said, “Shooting ‘Reply 1997’ was a really good memory for me, so I wanna do a sequel.” He asked director Shin Won Ho if he planned on making that happen.
Shin Won Ho admitted that he didn’t know “the feeling of missing the old characters [he] made” until filming Reply 1994. When he invited the Reply 1997 cast to appear in the bus scene, Shin Won Ho realized that he also missed the characters.
After finally sharing the same feelings as viewers, Shin Won Ho revealed that he and screenwriter Lee Woo Jung did want to make a Reply 1997 sequel. They’ve discussed making it a single episode rather than an entire season.
With the main cast and director in agreement, maybe they will release a special sequel episode as an anniversary present to fans in the future.
