Korean Men Are Flying To Vietnam To Marry A Stranger Within 24 Hours
For a growing number of Korean men, the place to find a wife isn’t in their home country of Korea but in Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam. It’s become such a booming business that weddings are held barely 24 hours after the couple first meets.
These days, Korean women are choosing to focus on their careers and completely forego motherhood. As such, men who want to raise a family or need help taking care of aging parents are turning to neighboring countries.
The journey begins with Korean men hopping on a plane to Vietnam, where they enlist the help of marriage brokers to facilitate introductions with Vietnamese women interested in marrying foreigners.
Both the women and men are allowed to reject the other upon meeting. They employ the help of translators and online apps to help converse with one another.
The goal of these encounters is to quickly find a partner and hold a wedding ceremony, oftentimes within the span of a single day.
For the Vietnamese women involved, they are motivated by the prospect of financial security for themselves and their family…

People in the business argue that both parties benefit from the arrangement. However, concerns have been raised regarding the potential exploitation of the Vietnamese brides.
