K-Pop Company Lets Fans Vote On Whether Their Idols Are Allowed To Share Personal Opinions
In a move unexpected from most K-Pop agencies, Modhaus recently held a fan vote on whether members of the 24-member girl group TripleS should be allowed to share their own personal opinions.
Known for its unique approach of letting fans influence many aspects of the group’s activities, Modhaus has previously allowed fans to decide everything from song releases to unit formations within the group. However, this latest voting topic has sparked considerable debate among fans.

The voting, conducted through the Cosmo app, began on July 13 at 11 AM and concluded on July 14 at 8 AM. The majority of fans voted in favor of allowing the members to share their opinions, reflecting the growing desire for their idols to engage in activities they enjoy and make decisions they back.
Despite this outcome, the mere fact that such a fundamental issue was put to a vote has caused a backlash within the fan community on X (formerly known as Twitter).
This gravity is weird. I completely understand if you don't want to vote. I understand if you'd prefer the girls not say anything just bc of the Whales and annoying fans but if you vote 'disagree'?
Absolutely not.
They should have the choice. Don't silence them

Many fans expressed their frustration, arguing that decisions about personal expression should not be subject to a public vote. They urged Modhaus to limit future voting to less personal topics, such as choosing songs and deciding on unit formations.

While the majority of fans want to ensure their idols’ happiness and freedom to express themselves, the incident has prompted a call for more thoughtful consideration of what decisions are open to public voting.
Fans hope that Modhaus will take their concerns into account and avoid putting such sensitive matters to a vote in the future.
