Music Producers Reveal The K-Pop Idol With “Perfect” Vocal Skills

The idol “is so good at singing” that they “can actually handle anything…”

MonoTree is a South Korean music production company founded by producers Lee Joo Hyung, Hwang Hyun, and G-high. “Known as the fathers of K-Pop,” throughout their careers, these three talented producers have worked with many artists like KARA, GirlsGeneration, LOONA, and ONF.

During their interview with ReacttotheK, they talked about how their production process differs depending on the company they’re working with.

For instance, Hwang Hyun has freedom in his production for ONF.

But when working with SM Entertainment, he usually bases his work on their demos or “requests from the company.”

Of course, the song they produce can also greatly depend on the artists they have in mind.

And when talking about songs they’ve worked on in the past, Lee Joo Hyung opened up about the one K-Pop artist so capable of singing anything they create, that there is “no limit” to their creativity.

Lee Joo Hyung: Actually, Wendy has a lot of experience recording, and she has sung a lot in my works. She also has a lot of experience in vocal directing, so she is familiar with it.

Interviewer: So there was no limit to what range, when to belt, when to switch into head voice versus… That kind of thing?

Red Velvet’s Wendy

G-high instantly agreed that Red Velvet‘s Wendy is such a talented singer that she can sing any song.

Lee Joo Hyung even admitted that his corrections for Wendy when she is recording usually are about directing the song’s emotion rather than anything technical.

But even when giving those suggestions, he doesn’t need to direct Wendy in any specifics since she has the technique to guide herself.
