Two K-Pop stylists recently appeared on the AYO YouTube channel and discussed some of the groups they’ve worked with, including BTS, TXT, and BLACKPINK, revealing some of the secrets behind their favorite work and also behind-the-scenes stories.
When idols have comebacks, they will perform on different music shows during the week, and they will often wear different outfits. During the video, the stylists explained just how much work goes into all the looks.
Kim Tae Young (Balko) explained just how much thought and how many outfits are needed for just one promotion period.
If it’s for a music show, with the same concept, there should be many different outfits with different vibes. If they perform for four weeks, they need to go on four different shows, so they need 16 outfits in total. If they come out with an album, they have at least 20-30 outfits.

Yet, there might be times where the idols don’t want to or don’t need to keep it. Yet, they are never wasted. Balko added that sometimes the designers would take them after they’ve been worn.
For Kim Balko, she explained how she thinks that most idols keep their outfits, but how they use them in the future depends on the company and the artist.
I think they keep it afterward. MCND kept it and reformed it after. For conceptual outfits like BLACKPINK’s hanbok, they might wear it again at a concert later. They don’t just throw it away.
