LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura Is Happy With Her Decision To Come To Korea Despite The Hardships She Endured
In an interview with the popular YouTube channel odg, LE SSERAFIM‘s Sakura met with both a Korean and Japanese kid and helped them introduce themselves to each other and become friends.
Sakura also talked about her own experiences as a foreign idol where, while she had experience as an idol as a previous member of J-Pop group HKT48, she struggled in Produce 48 because of the language barrier.
Sakura explained that during Produce 48, she was struggling to understand what everyone was saying, leaving her feeling incredibly lonely.
Greetings and thank you were all I knew. So, I didn’t know what the teacher was saying even when I was practicing. I didn’t know the meanings of the lyrics, so I kept searching about it. It was hard.
-Sakura
And even when she debuted as a member of IZ*ONE, she still struggled because while her members were incredibly supportive and helpful, promotions like variety shows kept her feeling isolated.
When I was on an entertainment show, I didn’t know what they were talking about. They were all laughing, but I had no idea why they were laughing. It was lonely.
-Sakura
Although Sakura has proven herself as an incredibly talented idol with immense charisma, energy, and skills…
Given how much she struggled to transition from J-Pop to K-Pop, one of the kids couldn’t help but question why she would have made such a drastic change.
He directly asked Sakura why she made the change in a recently uploaded behind-the-scenes interview clip.
Why did you come to Korea?
And Sakura proved her incredible mindset as she explained that she knew that the transition would be incredibly challenging, so she decided to attempt it.
I always love to challenge myself. If there are two paths that I can take, I think I prefer the hard one. That way, I can learn things.
-Sakura
Sakura explains that while facing challenges can be incredibly difficult and moving to Korea was an immense struggle, she has been able to learn a lot from the experience. Including Korean language, culture, and idol skills, and she has even gained confidence.
And as difficult as it was, I can now speak a bit of Korean, my skills got better, and I have become more confident.
-Sakura
Constantly challenging herself, she even explains that debuting for the third time in LE SSERAFIM also was a decision she made to keep challenging herself, helping her to continuously grow more confident in her abilities.
It makes me feel like I can do anything. So I have debuted for the third time and I’m still challenging myself.
-Sakura
And understandably, the kid was incredibly inspired by Sakura’s strong mentality and constant willingness to take on more challenges to improve herself.
I’ve learned something from [Sakura].
