LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura Opens Up About Her Popularity Coming To An End And How It Has Affected Her
LE SSERAFIM‘s Sakura is acutely aware that her time in the spotlight as a K-Pop idol won’t last forever. She opened up about what it means to her in an interview with Weverse Magazine where she also discussed the dreaded “celebrity disease,” how she treats the group’s youngest members, and the hatred idols receive on a daily basis.
When reflecting on her love for her members, the “ANTIFRAGILE” singer shared that she knows everything will come to an end one day—even if she just wants it to last forever.
She doesn’t try to fool herself—she is aware that her popularity may already be coming to an end.
I want to be with the other members forever, but I know the day might come when we can no longer be together. Everything has to come to an end someday, and I’m only human, so I can’t keep performing on the stage forever. Who knows? I might even be going downhill already.
— Sakura
Because of her knowledge that nothing lasts forever, she decided long ago to live in the moment and cherish every day. She is overjoyed that she can spend her time doing work that she is passionate about.
So I have to cherish every single day. Even though this is the third time I’ve debuted, I don’t even notice the time passing because I get to spend every single day doing the things I love and looking forward to an even brighter future.
— Sakura
Moreover, Sakura believes that it makes all her moments on earth feel more precious. In fact, she’s even happier today than she could have ever imagined!
I think the fact that nothing lasts forever makes every single moment that much more precious and sublime. I’ve been keeping a diary here and there for a long time, so I have a lot of old diaries filled up. When I look back on entries from a year ago trying to predict how I would feel in the future, my guesses always fell short of how amazing things are today. I’ve had happy moments I never could have expected and I’m so much happier with myself than I could have imagined.
— Sakura
It helps that she has made it a habit to write on a diary and take pictures to remember everything she did. Memories are incredibly important to her, so she tries to not forget a single day.
When you live every day to the fullest, it’s harder to remember everything that happens. That’s why I take pictures with my film camera and collect things and keep a diary. Because I don’t want to forget a single day.
— Sakura
As a singer who has debuted in groups like HKT48 and IZ*ONE, there’s no doubt that Sakura is always in demand and that fans will never get tired of her. She has been active in the industry for over a decade, proving that her longevity and popularity are almost unparalleled!
