Source Music Accused Of Engaging In Media Play For LE SSERAFIM—Fans Come To Their Defense

LE SSERAFIM‘s entertainment company, Source Music, was recently accused of engaging in media play for the girl group, but fans quickly came to their defense and refuted the claims against them. Media play involves actions taken by individuals to manipulate or shape public perception through media channels like news sites.

The issue began when a journal article was published about LE SSERARIM garnering #1 on digital music platform search results in the month of May, which is when they made their comeback with the title track “UNFORGIVEN.”

The netizen who shared the article commented, “We’re not even talking about digital music scores but digital music searches. Just how few [achievements] can they media play that they had to resort to this?“

On one hand, people agreed with the netizen and said it was “cringy” of the company to try to force the girl group to go viral. Some also felt that their past lip-syncing controversy tainted their talented image and made people dislike them, hence the negative reception to the journal article.

However, on the other hand, fans defended the girls and said that there was no media play involved—LE SSERAFIM just so happens to be organically trendy. They argued that the group has many accomplishments under their belt as two of their songs are charting in the Top 6 of Melon Charts, a sign that the general public enjoys their music.

They further asserted that the members are “top tier” due to their many viral posts, high ranking songs, and ability to sell millions of albums. Additionally, they refuted the fact that Source Music would media play such a small event when they don’t even publicly acknowledge the girl group’s many other achievements.
