JTBC‘s The Good Bad Mother recently aired its last episode on June 8, wrapping up the series with a staggering 12% viewership rating. The show is a tragicomedy, telling the story of a mother-son with a complicated relationship. The mother, Jin Young Soon (played by Ra Mi Ran), had no choice but to be a cruel parent to her son Choi Kang Ho (played by Lee Do Hyun) to protect him. But as an accident leaves Kang Ho with a mind of a child, the duo re-explore their relationship once again to get their ultimate revenge.
Apart from its gripping plot and healing storytelling, audiences are also enamored by the chemistry of the main leads, Kang Ho and Lee Mi Joo (played by Ahn Eun Jin). The characters are childhood sweethearts who support each other through the years as a couple, and their romance scenes have captured viewers’ hearts with their warm domesticity. The series also contains quite a few kissing scenes between these two, much to the delight of fans.
In a recent interview, Ahn talked about the kissing scenes from her perspective as an actor and the character Lee Mi Joo. She revealed that while most of those kisses were in the script, some of them were improvised as well. The goal, Ahn said, was to bring out the natural intimacy of a couple who has known each other for a long time from close proximity.
There were a lot of kissing scenes. We followed the script, and we added some as well…Rather than the awkward-cute flirty moments, we wanted to focus on showing the comfortable and natural moments. We wanted to show spontaneous intimacy, like leaning on or touching each other.

But then the actress added a cryptic comment saying, “(There were a lot of kissing and intimate scenes), but I didn’t receive any calls.” The unexpected remark was actually a teasing reference to Lim Ji Yeon, Lee Do Hyun’s girlfriend. It’s been only a few months since the couple went public with their relationship, becoming the ultimate “ship” of K-Drama fans overnight!

At that time, he apologized to the cast and crew because he feared it might affect the show negatively. But they all were understanding and assured him that there was nothing wrong with dating.
