Lizzo Praises TWICE Jeongyeon’s “READY TO BE” Solo Stage
As the love for K-Pop has grown globally, so has the love K-Pop has received from Western artists. Although some of that love is new, there have been Western artists outspoken in their appreciation for K-Pop idols before the genre began to frequent Western media and music charts, and one of those artists is American singer, rapper, and musician, Lizzo.
In 2019, Lizzo discovered BTS‘s music and has since befriended the members, becoming texting buddies with J-Hope.
He does not leave me on ‘read.’ If it’s been awhile since we texted, He’s like, “I’m so sorry, ” like he apologizes for how long it’s taken.
— Lizzo
In 2019, she also recruited AB6IX for a remix of her hit song “Truth Hurts” and shared that her connection with K-Pop goes back to the second generation as she was a fan of 2NE1 “back in the day.”

K-Pop idols have also shown Lizzo love; one of those idols was TWICE‘s Jeongyeon!
TWICE recently completed the first two nights of their READY TO BE world tour, taking over the KSPO Dome in Seoul on April 15 and 16.
The group surprised ONCEs with solo stages for each member, showing off their individual talents in unforgettable performances.
TWICE’s Jeongyeon covered Lizzo’s “Juice” for her solo stage and went all out with a flashy outfit, blonde wig, and a recorder solo, all while flexing her live vocals.
And the funniest stage of the night goes to Jeongyeon. Switching between a random flute and belting a high note immediately after

Her solo stage quickly went viral and caught the attention of Lizzo herself, who had nothing but praise for the talented TWICE member.
Lizzo quote tweeted a video of Jeongyeon’s performance, calling it “so amazing.”

She then gave “Juice” a shout-out for being a “cultural reset and ushering in THE modern disco pop era” in a Tweet that shared a clip of Jeongyeon’s recorder performance.

Lizzo’s acknowledgment and praise of Jeongyeon’s solo stage are well-deserved, and we can only hope the two link up for an epic performance down the line.
