The Surprising Achievements MAMAMOO Hit Before Other Girl Groups, According To Moonbyul
There’s no doubt that MAMAMOO are one of the most successful K-Pop groups in history and have made their mark on the industry. In addition to being the first girl group to have each member’s solo album sell over 50,000 copies, the members have each stood out in their own special ways.
In a recent variety show, Moonbyul discussed some of the group’s most surprising achievements they hit in comparison to their peers.
Moonbyul was the latest guest on Kim Jaejoong‘s JaeFriends, where the pair entertained viewers while discussing many topics.
While discussing the group’s success, Moonbyul admits they made a lot of money but not as much as one may think. Jaejoong compares MAMAMOO to INFINITE and TEEN TOP, saying they were the groups that “built their companies” since they were the first to debut.
Moonbyul then admits that they were the first of the girl groups that debuted around their time to pay out to the company. When trainees debut, it is often at a cost to the company they must pay back to start making money.
As a result, Moonbyul says that MAMAMOO were the first to get their own cell phones and live independently, though their cell phones were linked to a different achievement. According to the MAMAOO member, the group were only able to get their own phones after winning a Rookie of the Year award or getting first place.
These surprising achievements are only a testament to how popular the group truly are!
While they did not have their own cell phones for a while, MAMAMOO did find ways around it, which you can read more about below.
