Meet The Idol Group With An Average Weight Of 92 KG
While it is a sensitive topic, there is, unfortunately, a standard body shape stars are expected to have. Idols have often discussed the harsh standards surrounding their appearances, and weight is often one brought up.
Many stars and trainees have discussed the not-so-great methods of weight loss in the past.

However, an active girl group that defies these standards has recently gained attention.
In mid-September, a video from a TikTok account in Japanese went viral on the app with over 2 million views. The video showed seven women dressed in colored outfits, along with a weight near their body.

These women are actually in an idol group called Big Angel.
Big Angel debuted in 2018, and is led by Ohashi Michiko the founder and an original member. Ohashi was originally at a much lower weight and attempting to lose weight to get modeling jobs, eventually going on an extreme diet to do so.
One day she broke her diet and decided she no longer wanted to live in this way. She gained weight, discovered “chubby models” in a magazine and was accepted to be featured in it after applying.
Ohashi originally was in another group themed around “chubby” idols that went on to disband, which she and another member re-debuting in Big Angel with three other members. Big Angel’s concept is that they were angels that gained too much weight and fell from the sky and must dance and sing to lose weight to get back to heaven.
Big Angel currently has eight members after adding six new ones in August 2024. Each member of Big Angel is assigned a color and a food item — for example member Eihara Hana is in charge of steak.
The group wish to promote body positivity and do so through their YouTube channel, where they post various contents.
The group’s new line-up has seemed to breath life back into the group, and we can’t wait to see more from them!
