ADOR’s CEO, Min Hee Jin, is currently at the forefront of K-Pop controversies due to a public feud with HYBE. The conglomerate accused her of trying to usurp management and separate ADOR from its parent company. After some mud-slinging from both parties, the ADOR CEO held a press conference on April 25, KST, to defend her stance.

Contrary to most K-Pop press meet, Min Hee Jin’s interaction with the media was far from formal. While clarifying her situation, she went into multiple heated monologues, talked with curse words woven in between, and even ignored her lawyers’ advice when they tried to stop her from talking about certain topics.

Amidst this chaotic press conference, Min Hee Jin talked about how Bang brought her on board to launch a girl group under Source Music. While  talking about his plans for the girl group, he allegedly told Min that he could not launch a girl group under BIGHIT MUSIC because BTS’s female fans might get “jealous.”

Bang Si Hyuk said, ‘BIGHIT has a lot of female fans because of BTS. We can’t make a girl group here. Because female fans might be jealous of girl groups. We have to make a girl group label.’

The comment deeply upset ARMYs, as many felt that Bang Si Hyuk was parroting the same harmful stereotypes against BTS’s fandom as the group’s critics. They rebuked the HYBE founder for undermining the same fandom that he otherwise likes to present as an anomaly to K-Pop culture in public.
