Meet The Fashion Designer Who Styled NCT’s Johnny At The 2022 Met Gala
At the 2022 Met Gala on May 2, NCT‘s Johnny turned heads with his sleek black clothing ensemble, featuring a floor length satin double-breasted tailcoat and suit set with silver detailing, a waistcoat with all but the center unbuttoned, and futuristic combat boots.
NCTzens were in awe of how handsome Johnny looked as he walked the red carpet and posed with other celebrities, such as Gigi Hadid and Jung Ho Yeon.
All the praise towards Johnny and his outfit brings attention to the fashion designer who made it all possible: New York City based fashion designer Peter Do.
2022 may have been Peter Do’s first time attending and designing an outfit for the Met Gala, but he has become famous for his innovative work within the fashion industry.
Peter Do was born in Biên Hòa, Vietnam, but immigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his family at the young age of fourteen. He fell in love with clothing design after his mom bought him a sewing machine.
He attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City, where he majored in Fashion Design. Upon graduation, he won the 2014 LMVH Prize for Young Fashion Designers. He then went on to work for designers Céline and Derek Lam.
In 2018, Peter Do and four friends he met through the fashion industry, Jessica Wu, Lydia Sukato, Vincent Ho, and An Nguyen decided to create a clothing brand together that highlighted the importance of community, valued work, and inclusivity. Thus the Peter Do brand was born.
The Peter Do brand is centered around modern elegance, featuring clean shapes and defined silhouettes.
While celebrities across the globe have already become loyal enthusiasts of Peter Do’s work, he’s certainly gained a great deal of new fans from the K-Pop community after the Met Gala. If you are curious to see more of his work, check out this video of Peter Do’s latest collection below.
